The program encompasses the study of Communication Design, Motion and 3D Digital Design and Interaction Design. Students are encouraged to explore the opportunities in each option.
Communication Design is the user-centered professional design focus of communicating ideas and information to specific audiences through advanced verbal and visual problem-solving across a range of media. Focus is on the ever-expanding realm of visual communication design in a number of areas including: typography, print media, digital and interactive media, strategic thinking, information and environmental graphic design.
Motion and 3D digital design is so pervasive in our visual culture that we are exposed to it in nearly all commercials, films, video games, music videos and even print design. Students learn all aspects of motion graphics and 3D design. Once familiar with the basics of production students are encouraged to focus on specific topics such as dynamic typography, lighting and texturing, the creation of visual effects. RIT alumni go on to work for the top companies worldwide in gaming, broadcast, visualization and education.
Interaction Design blends interdisciplinary components, including graphic design, human-computer interaction, and information architecture, with technology to deliver a range of professional and experimental user experiences to the screen. Discover how interactivity and animation can help bring online applications to life. This concentration exposes students to interaction design, UI and UX design, and development techniques to create dynamic content.
